Choose the condition
New single-trip containers have made a shipping journey and can have handling marks. Cargo-worthy used containers have worked at sea and can have dents, repairs and surface rust. Ask about the actual unit, its doors, floor and weatherproof condition. As-is containers are not sold watertight.
For practical storage, a tidy exterior may matter less than the doors, floor and condition. For a visible spot beside your home or business, ask about a new single-trip option.
Compare a delivered quote
Ask for the container, its condition, delivery charge and GST treatment in writing. Size, condition, availability, distance and the delivery vehicle affect the total. Let us know your suburb and preferred timing so the quote reflects your job.
Ask what is included, how long the quote remains valid and what happens if access is different from the information supplied. Availability and delivery timing need confirmation.
What about hiring?
If the job has a likely finish date, compare buying with hiring. Include delivery and eventual collection in the hire total. There is no single break-even period that suits every job.
