These containers have generally made one loaded shipping journey. They are a tidier starting point, but can still show handling marks or small dents. Confirm the actual unit’s finish, doors and floor.
Cargo-worthy used
Used containers can have dents, repairs and surface rust from working life at sea. Ask how the seller has assessed the unit and whether its condition meets your storage needs. If you need it for shipping, check the documentation and certification required for that journey separately.
As-is
As-is containers are not sold watertight. They may have holes, leaks, corrosion or floor and door issues. They are not a suitable default for furniture, paperwork or other contents that need dry storage. Understand the defects and likely repair work before deciding.
Labels are only the beginning
Ask for recent photos, the details of significant defects and clear written terms. Check doors, seals, roof, floor and visible repairs. A freshly painted exterior does not establish the condition underneath. Use our inspection checklist to guide the conversation.
